Review
Deck building within the programs is different in all three but I cannot seem to favor one or the other in that respect. Yet, GCCG allows to just use a deck list in txt format which I find convenient.
MWS
Pros-
+ Most intuitive interface
+ Clear layout, small cards, plenty of space
+ Self-defined chat buttons
+ Autosaving chat log
+ Direct connection with opponent is supported, stable reconnect for direct connections
-
- Not straightforward installation for usage with Netrunner
- The function to roll dice can be enerving and time consuming if multiple rolls are required.
- No updates in the future
- No support of proxy servers
- No watch function
GCCG
Pros-
+ Absolutely reliable autosave and load again function of games when
accidentally disconnecting or having a break, autosaving for each
opponent separately
+ Server chat lobby
+ Multiple tables possible also for more than 2 players
+ "Watch games" function
+ Some automatic actions linked to playing certain card types (ICE is played face down, Preps go directly to trash etc.)
+ Technical support is available
+ Everyone can actively participate in the development of gccg and modules
+ Plain text format for deck files
-
- Interface has a learning curve
- Server-based only currently
- No support of proxy servers
LackeyCCG
Pros-
+ Server chat lobby
+ Buttons for indicating turns and actions
-
- Annoying interface even after learning
- Too small fonts in chat window, not changeable
- Not adjustable keyboard layout
- Sometimes disconnects
- Server-based only currently
- No watch function - No support of proxy servers
OCTGN
Pros-
+ Well structured installation
+ Chat lobby for all players, view of hosted games selective
+ Clear layout, small cards, plenty of space
+ Comfortable automations
+ Visible counter management
+ Menu items and shortcuts for almost all actions possible
+ Everyone can actively participate in the development of the plugin
+ Technical support is available
-
- Not easily readable fonts
- Interface has a learning curve
- No support of proxy servers
- No watch function
- No saving of game sessions
- No reconnect function
Vassal
Pros-
+ Lots of opportunities to improve on
+ Huge lobby for all kinds of games
+ Lobby with user log
+ Well structured game room
+ Possile workarounds to existing implementation bugs.
-
- Not finished yet
- Terrible counter management, some functions broken
- Card movement solely by drag and drop
- Unsynchornized counters, corp and runner can see different status.
- Counterintuitive installation and interface.
