Quick overview of some Netrunner formats Sealed This format consists in playing with a limited and randomly generated set of cards, obtained from the available sets. These sealed packs of cards are obtained normally by purchasing hence the word "Sealed" since the packs are supposed to be not opened beforehand. Each player has generally one or two double starters from the Base set and several boosters coming generally from the Base set, Proteus or Classic. The number of boosters distributed ranges from zero to five, the most frequently used numbers being two or three. Having less than one booster increases the difficulty and random effects; an unlucky draw cannot be compensated with additional cards and having more than five booster comes too close to Constructed. After each player has received its starter and boosters, the referee gives a signal, and all players unpack their cards. Then they have a certain time (about one hour) to build their Corp and Runner decks with their random set of cards. Sometimes, if it is in the tournament specs, it is allowed to keep a sideboard; either all the unused cards or a limited number, like five to ten for Corp and five to ten for Runner which players can use between each match to switch cards between their decks and that sideboard. Constructed no-limit Revised Tycho Extension was banned to prevent boring and overpowerful decks winning with two agendas with ACME Savings and Loan and Project Consultants; such a deck would often win before turn five. Enterprise Inc Shields was banned to avoid killing the Net and brain damage effects; rich runners were too easily able to pay to prevent any such damage. Scaldan and Viral Pipeline were made “Unique” to avoid overpowered decks. Code Viral Cache and Precision Bribery are modified such that the trashing cannot be prevented, thereby eliminating the easy “locking” combination with Time to Collect. There is no limit on the number of card copies in "no-limit". 1/15 This format limits the number of copies of each card you can put in your deck. You are allowed one copy for every 15 cards. In other words, in a deck of 45 cards (up to 59), you can put only three copies of each card, and in a deck of 60 cards (up to 74), you can put only four copies of each card. 1/15 is usually combined with the Constructed formats. Highlander This format limits the number of copies of each card that you can put in your deck to one.
